About Dominic Bryant

Dominic holds a Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology and Aquaculture from James Cook University, and a Master of Philosophy from the University of Tasmania/Australian Maritime Collage. He joined the XL Catlin Seaview Survey as a volunteer with the shallow reef team during the final leg of the Caribbean survey in 2013 and subsequently got accepted as one of the XL Catlin Oceans Scholars to start his PhD at the University of Queensland in 2014. For his PhD, Dominic is using the XL Catlin Seaview survey imagery to investigate spatial patterns in the distributions and abundance of corals in the Maldives and Chagos archipelago. Dominic hopes to overlay results found from the surveys conducted during the 2015 XL Catlin Seaview Survey expeditions in the Maldives and Chagos with remote sensing and census data to better understand climatic and anthropogenic drivers of coral distributions along the Chagos-Maldives- Laccadive ridge in the Central Indian Ocean
